Processing the possible future

A game created for the Apocalypse jam 2023.
The game is about survival of a parent and child after climate collapse. The hope is to encourage reflection on how the world came to that point, our part in the process,   the harsh reality of the situation but also the possibility of survival and a new form of life. Though terrible, the climate collapse is not the end. I submitted for the subtheme Mono No Aware.

I'm not actually  programmer but primarily a 2D artist, but I  do have some understanding of how it works. This project is created in Scratch (https://scratch.mit.edu/) which gives me the tools to create something that at least feels like a working game. Even though it's simple it does have more complexity in its' gameplay than my last project which feels like a nice progression.  The atmosphere and dialogue  partly makes up for the simplicity of the mechanics.

I would generally say I'd rather encourage climate resistance and activism to resigning  to climate collapse.  Processing our feelings about possible futures can also be important however, as well as recognizing that a lot of climate change already is inevitable. The situation will keep becoming worse for as long as we don't change society so this is definitely not the time to embrace hopelessness but to increase the pressure on world leaders to act and change.
