1.0 Release patch

About a month ago I finally had the time and urge to pick this project up! My original ambitions for the game were quite big (for me) and the prototype that I managed to publish during the Fxck capitalism jam felt unfinished in several ways.

While this patch won't add all of the things discussed in the previous devlog it will definitely leave the game in a more playable and polished state.

My idea for the game was originally a form of "clicker" game but you'll notice that this mechanic is essentially removed by now. Clicking to generate the basic resource simply took too much time and focus and made the strategic aspects of the game suffer and feel stressful. Resource generation is now automatic and the player can focus on the more interesting gameplay. I originally had the goal of "portraying how to build a movement" through having several steps before being able to send any activists to demonstrate (build support->Organize->Recruit activists etc) , but since there was no plan for how this would work in an interesting way gameplay-wise, I  ended up abandoning that idea for now.  Maybe I'll try to implement it in another project.

As  I wrote in my devlog at release there was also plans to expand the game with more levels and upgrades between them. This would let the player customize and develop their "movement" of activists. I still like this idea, but when picking the project up again I felt that this would mean a lot of additional development of code and assets and that it would be better to prioritize polishing and improving on what's already in game first. Again, it's not impossible that I would like to revisit the topic at a later time, if it will be in this project or another we'll have to see.

Among the changes I made many had to do with communicating more clearly  what the game is doing and how it works, as well as update a lot of the art  and it now feels much more like a finished product to me. There's a clearer tutorial and "story" and I've tried to draw the players attention to when new types of activists are added and  add visual ques for getting points or harmful events. In the previous version the Q-key was used to switch target which was unnecessary  and made the game unplayable on phones, so that's removed as well. I'm happy with the changes and hopefully all of this results in a game that is much more readable and easy to pick up.

I'm learning more  with each project and as they increase in size I've started to think about moving from Scratch to an engine more suited for game projects of bigger scale and force myself to finally start learning about real programming, haha. I'm not yet sure what my next project will be but I now feel that this game is in a presentable enough stage  to work on its own in case I don't return to develop it further. If you read all the way here - thanks a lot for your attention and I hope to show you more interesting projects in the future.
